About Me

My name is Lauren Balotin. I am currently a student at Emory University where I plan to double in major in Environmental Science and Media Studies. In my free time, I am involved with the Emory Wheel as a staff writer for the news section, Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society, and the Emory Environment Senate Standing Committee. I am also the Vice President of Administration for my chapter of Pi Beta Phi Fraternity for Women, and I am the president of Running Club. I have been interested in journalism since high school when I took an Introduction to Journalism class during my freshman year. Soon after, I began contributing to my school newspaper, the Mill Creek Chronicle, and a local magazine called Inside the Gates, which allowed me to write features and profiles on local athletes. Now, I am interested in learning more about journalism and science writing, which could potentially combine my interest in environmental science and the media. This site is an archive of the work that I have completed as part of my ENG/IDS 380W course at Emory University during the spring semester of 2017.
